I finally, finally, finally went running again today.

About damn time, I’d say.

The work friend and I went out at lunch time. We were suppossed to start running together two weeks ago but crap weather and sick kids conspired against us. We did a quick half hour today, mixing up jogging and walking. We are about even on pace so far, but I suspect she’ll be faster than me sooner or later.

It was nice to have the company on the run and I think it will be good to have some accountability. We run again tomorrow and are going to aim for 3 times a week. I’m going to talk her into doing a 5K this spring, she just doesn’t know it yet.


In other news, I am signed up for an indoor tri on Valentine’s Day. Best Part? It is free and at the school where I work, so super convenient.

The potential worst part? It is being organzied by my school’s fledgling triathlon club, which has seemed, um, woefully disorganized to me. Our school is small and the gym only has 4 bikes and 4 treadmills, so I’m not sure what the plan will be if they have more than 4 people signed up. Heats, maybe?

I’m trying to stay positive, but this is the group that had a plan for their first event to be a “5K Underwear Run” in which people would, in late October (in Iowa) run a 5K in their tighty whities. On a Sunday morning. On a route that goes past not 1 but 2 churches. Needless to say, the race didn’t end up happening.

Hopefully the tri will be planned a little better.
