This is where I was on Friday. It was 73 degrees and I got to hike (one of my favorite things that I really need to do more of) for a few hours.

This is where I am now:

It was a good trip with some great students and it was really, really nice to be warm for a few days.

I did have a sense of rootlessness while I was there. Arizona used to be my home, but it isn’t anymore. Iowa is where I live but I don’t know if it is home yet. I desperately miss my Arizona friends but my professional and financial life is much improved by living in Iowa, and that is important to me. I think it would be easier to develop a sense of attachment to Iowa if I didn’t feel like Mother Nature was trying to kill me with this snow nonsense.
