Bits and pieces

Remember how I confessed that I have a bit of a magazine problem? Well, since we’ve moved I haven’t gotten a single magazine in the mail at the new place (or hardly any mail at all, really. Where is our mail USPS?). I know for sure that we are missing at least 3 issues of the New Yorker, 1 issue of Glamour and the new issue of Vanity Fair with the soccer players clad only in ab muscles and tight underwear. I want my magazines!

The sad thing is that even with an almost 3 week break from getting new magazines, I’m still way behind on my magazine reading. Sometimes I feel guilty about that (which probably proves my husband’s point that I can feel guilty about anything) which is just¬†ridiculous.

I went for my first walk/job around our new neighborhood yesterday. We still haven’t unearthed the Garmin yet, so I don’t know how long it was but I do know that both Mr. Monkey and I will have no trouble doing hill repeats if we need to for training. Our new neighborhood is very hilly, which makes me grateful for the 2 mile flat path at the nearby park. I think my knees will need that.

An adorable new development has occurred in the young monkey’s linguistic development. He now asks “wat doin?” when he sees us doing something new or out of the ordinary. He cocks his head to the side and spreads his hands “wat doin Mama?” it kills me.

I saw the Babies movie this weekend. It was gentle and sweet and I was able to keep my “aww!” -ing to a minimum. Allow me to state the obvious: babies are cute. I was fascinated with the baby growing up in Mongolia and the baby in Namibia has the best baby smile ever.

I have a few other posts brewing but am trying to weigh how much disclosure is comfortable for me. I sort of feel like there is no real point to blogging (for me) if I’m not being honest but I also don’t want to permanently embarrass myself by putting some goals/hopes/plans out there and then not following through. We’ll see.

I had a lovely weekend. How about you?

Vanity Fair is great… really good articles but lots of juicy celebrity stuff too. It usually takes me the longest of all my magazines to read and I always learn something.

I spent most of Sunday afternoon in a mall in “the big city” and various discount stores and ended up with socks, underwear, and dogfood. Good for the budget, anyway.
