The next big fitness goal

I’ve decided that I’m going to run a half-marathon this spring. I figure if I can do 17 miles (as I did in the most painful race ever) I can for sure do 13.1.

I haven’t decided which half-marathon I’m going to do yet or which training plan I’m going to use. I need to A) get over this damn cough I have and B) start running again. I’m figuring I’ll use December to get going again and then start a training plan in January which if I did a 16 week plan would put me at doing a half-marathon in late April/early May, which should work weather wise.

I’m excited.

Please tell what plan you decide to go with. I am also planning on trying my running skills (or lack there of) at a half marathon this summer.

De-lurking to say Congrats and Good Luck! I have been following you on Bodies in Motivation and then came over here. I did my first 1/2 at the end of September and followed Hall Higdon’s beginner 1/2 marathon training plan. I started out with the Intermediate plan but quickly decided it required too much running, which sounds kind of stupid considering I was training to run 13.1 miles but still. 🙂 So proud of you and I’m looking forward to hearing how your training goes!

Just throwing out Dam to Dam- it’s technically a 20K, not a half marathon- but it’s 12.4 miles- so really really close. It’s June 4, 2011. Last year was the first year I ever did it, and it was cool. It’s the biggest 20K in the country, it’s tons of fun, and it’s in Des Moines. I’ll be doing it this year, we can be training partners! 🙂
